Recreational marijuana will be on the ballot for 2020 despite changes from the current state government to try to make voter initiatives harder and more expensive. Florida House Bill 5 ups many requirements for when and how you have to turn in ballots which makes organizing and pushing through a ballot initiative much more difficult and expensive.
The group championing the 2020 initiative, Regulate Florida, wants marijuana to be managed like alcohol, regulated and available to anyone over 21. One has to wonder why the current government is so set on blocking any further initiatives from voters? Florida voters clearly wanted to legalize medical marijuana and grant felons a chance to restore their voting rights, is the State government now scared of Floridians successfully advancing their priorities on their own?
