Hello, my name is Dr. Rene Pulido, one of the medical marijuana doctors in Jacksonville. I was born into a Cuban-Nicaraguan family and went to grade school at Assumption Catholic, and then went on to Bishop Kenny High School where I played football. When I was not on the football field, I was helping my father at Pulido’s Automotive, which he co-established in 1965. My mother always said, “If you could fix people like you fix cars, you would be a great doctor.”

After high school, my father convinced me to follow in the footsteps of my uncles Jesus and Alex, who were both local physicians. I went on to attend medical school in Costa Rica and completed the residency portion of my medical training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. I loved training at the Mayo Clinic; their multi-disciplinary teamwork approach to treating patients was a very powerful tool in revealing to me what medicine can be.

After graduating residency, I returned to the St. Nicholas area where I grew up as a child and opened my first Primary Care Center next to my mother’s restaurant, Havana Jax. Deciding to emulate Mayo Clinic, I implemented their teamwork approach, and it helped my practice blossom and evolve into what it is today – a 25,000 square foot medical multispecialty center. We also have an on-site pharmacy,  in-house imaging, & labs.
